About Me

I was born and grew up in north east England, and I have a strong Scottish heritage.  I then lived in Sheffield, Hampshire, Hertfordshire and London before returning to live in the north east. I followed a career in music as a teacher and semi-professional performer. I've also worked as a librarian, nutritional therapist, exam invigilator, shop assistant and TV extra! Now writing is my main job, though I have lots of other interests including painting.

I've  loved writing stories since I was a child, and completed my first novel as a student.  The next novel, Melody for Lizzie, an Edwardian historical romance, came out with a small publisher in 1995. Although that company went out of business, I continuted to write twentieth century sagas. I had some 'near misses' with agents and publishers during those years There's a special edition available of one of these, Secrets and Shadows, in ebook and paperback.

I found a new genre when in 2013 my first contemporary romantic suspense novel was published by My Weekly Pocket Novels. Since then they have brought out several more of my novels in the same genre.  In addition, these were published by Ulverscroft in large print library editions.  All these novels are now available as ebooks (and if you're a Kindle Unlimited member, you can read them for free!). There are some new paperback editions too - you can discover more about these on my Fiction page.

I'm still writing twentieth century sagas, and have two trilogies which will be coming out in due time. Keep watching!

I'm a member of the Romantic Novelists' Association, and meet regularly with other authors to discuss writing and other matters.
